Air India Express Baggage Rules

Upon delivery to us of Baggage to be checked, we shall take custody thereof and issue a Baggage Identification Tag for each piece of Checked Baggage. Checked Baggage must have your name or other personal identification affixed securely to it. Checked Baggage will be carried on the same aircraft as you unless we decide for safety, security or operational reasons to carry it on an alternative flight. If your Checked Baggage is carried on a subsequent flight we will deliver same to you within a reasonable time of arrival of that flight unless applicable law requires you to be present for customs clearance.

Cabin Baggage

Only one (1) piece of baggage is allowed to be carried on board provided that it does not exceed the dimensions of 56cm X 36cm X 23cm and provided that it does not weigh more than 7kg. Such baggage must fit under the seat in front of you or in an enclosed storage compartment in the cabin. Items determined by us to be of excessive weight or size or of an offensive nature will not be permitted on board.

Excess Checked Baggage

At the airport any excess baggage will be charged at the normal Excess Baggage Rate,and this will be accepted strictly on space availability/ aircraft permissible weight limitation basis. You are not entitled to transport Baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance. If, in our absolute discretion, Baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance is accepted for carriage, you shall pay a charge for the carriage of that excess Baggage at the prevailing rates (these rates may be changed or varied at any time and from time to time and will be available from us upon request and are available at our check-in counters).This will be carried subject to availability of space and aircraft permissible weight limitations.

Passengers may also need to pay a handling fee for the excess baggage at the airport in addition to the normal excess baggage charge.

At the time of making a booking,passengers travelling from the Gulf and Southeast Asia to India may be permitted to book a maximum 10Kgs Excess Baggage subject to availability through the system at a flat rate.

Every passenger is permitted to carry a certain amount of baggage free of cost, subject to certain regulations and the weight so permitted is printed in your itinerary receipt (Ticket), any excess carried will be charged as applicable and subject to availability of space in the cargo hold.The sum of the 3 dimensions (length + breadth + height) must not exceed 62 inches or 158 centimeters for each piece of Baggage. Passengers are permitted to carry TV sets (LED) as part of the free baggage allowance but the dimensions to not exceed 43 Inches.
