Bathinda Airport (BUP)

Bathinda Airport code is (IATA: BUP, ICAO: VIBT). Bhatinda Airport is now being reconstructed from an Air force station and is categorized under civil enclave by the airport authority of India. Earlier it was Bhisiana Airforce Station and was used as the base of Indian Air Force. New domestic terminal is nearly completed and work is going on to build the new terminals. This airport is still not active but some private jets take flight from here for government purposes only. A total loan sanction of Rs. 25 crore has been provided to make this airport. The new facilities to be provided in airport include international terminals and VIP lounges as per government announcements.

On 25 November 2016, Sukhbir Singh Badal, deputy chief minister of Punjab, announced that Alliance Air would begin flights between Bathinda and Delhi on 11 December. The announcement came one week after talks between Air India and local officials regarding the viability of flights to Bathinda. The flights began operating three times a week with the ATR 72-600. A ceremony was held to inaugurate the terminal and the Delhi flights. The state deputy chief minister; Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju, the union civil aviation minister; and Harsimrat Kaur Badal, a member of parliament from Bathinda, were among those in attendance.

Bhatinda airport will soon be active with its new domestic terminal which is complete and will resume flights from here in the near future. It will cover all the major domestic cities and cargo operations from all over India. Other terminals of Bhatinda airport are still under construction and will resume their services in the near future. International terminal will open soon after the completion of construction work.
