Trivandrum International Airport is located in Kerala's capital city of Thiruvananthapuram. It is the first airport in the state of Kerala, India. It was the fifth international airport of India declared by then Prime Minister of India, V. P. Singh in 1991. The airport is a primary base for Air India Express operations and is a focus city for Air India, Jet Airways, SpiceJet and IndiGo. Spread over an area of 750 acres, Trivandrum International Airport is situated very close to the city at approximately 3.7 km from the city center and 13 km from Technopark. The airport is an international gateway and preferred airport to tourists who travel to Sri Lanka and Maldives.
